What is winter guard?
Winter guard is not part of the marching band and performs on its own in guard-specific competitions. They rehearse and perform December-April.
What is color guard?
Color guard is part of the marching band and is a performing group that dances, spins flags, and throws other equipment. They rehearse and perform July-November.
Why is guard worth it? A message from color guard caption head skye lee:
In high school colorguard was my escape. I found a way to express myself and not worry about school or work. I just had to spin and dance! It is not as intimidating as traditional dance, and I discovered other pieces of equipment I could use to portray a message. Just like any other performing art you can perform to a crowd, and the cheers and applause are very rewarding. If you love music like I do, colorguard is worth a try. If you just want to make friends colorguard is an amazing avenue for that as well. Our staff and students help us create a non judgemental zone. Please join us in May to see what we are all about.
